Get your hooves ready to dance: Groovin the Moo Townsville is just over a month away. Holy cow.

One of the Fresh Produce artists, Tia Gostelow, is a relatively new name on the Townsville live music scene, after first supporting Busby Marou at the Dalrymple Hotel earlier in March. But the Mackay local will be singing to a completely different crowd next month as she takes to the GTM stage for the first time.

“It’ll be really different for me, as I am usually just one of the punters in the crowd!  This will be my first big festival show and I’m really keen for it. I have my band coming up from the Gold Coast for the set, I love playing with those guys so it will be heaps of fun,” said Tia.

“People should expect some really cool new songs that I’ll be heading into the studio to record soon, some good looking band members and of course my singles State of Art and Vague Utopia. Some are really upbeat which you can definitely dance to and there’s some nice little sweet tunes in there as well!”

The high demand for Tia’s singles lead to her being named the 30th most-played artist on Triple J Unearthed in 2016 – all while finishing high school.

“There are so, so many artists on Unearthed – I thought I would’ve been lucky to get in the top 100 so being the 30th most played artist last year was amazing!

“I guess when it came to school I was pretty lucky: I’m a person that didn’t have to try extremely hard to get decent grades and pass all my classes, so I didn’t stress much about it! I was mainly focused on music and most people knew that. I didn’t put extra stress on myself that I didn’t need where my grades were concerned.”

Before and after Groovin, Tia’s calendar is just as busy: with six nominations in the Queensland Music Awards next week and an album in her sights, there will be no time to slow down.

“Hopefully there will be another single out around May and I’m working on an album which will most likely be released February or March in 2018!”

Both of Tia’s singles, State of Art and Vague Utopia, are available for streaming on her website or on Triple J Unearthed. Catch Tia Gostelow and the other Fresh Produce artists at Groovin the Moo Townsville, Murray Sporting Complex on Sunday, 30 April. Tickets available now.
