Townsville’s Strand will once again be dotted with the colourful and curious this Winter and art-loving volunteers are being called to help complete the transformation.

Held biennially since 2001, and attracting artists from across the globe, Strand Ephemera has become a highlight of the city’s arts calendar.

Event organisers are currently looking for volunteers to help with the installation of works, staffing information booths, assisting visitors, helping with school programs and workshops and the pack up at the end of the event.

Townsville City Council’s Community and Cultural Development Committee chair Cr Colleen Doyle said volunteers of all abilities were required.

“In 2015 our volunteers contributed 900 hours of service and without them Strand Ephemera wouldn’t be the wonderful event that the community has come to know and love,” Cr Doyle said.

“The last Strand Ephemera attracted about 130,000 visitors including children, students, families and tourists who also participated in 290 programs, workshops and performances.

“Our staff and volunteers worked extremely hard to deliver this event for Townsville and we hope to make 2017 better than ever before.”

This year’s Strand Ephemera will run from 28 July to 6 August 2017. For more information about volunteering, contact Perc Tucker Regional Gallery via email.
