Australia’s best cabaret performers will be showcased in Townsville over the next few months, as Townsville City Council’s Riverway Sessions returns for its sixth year. The event has transformed quite a bit since first launching as Sessions at C2 in 2011, in more ways than just a new venue. The 2017 season of Riverway Sessions promises to bring vibrancy, fun and a little bit of cheekiness as some of Australia’s most celebrated performers are welcomed to the Riverway stage.

Riverway Sessions 2017 kicks off in May with the hilarious Warmwaters, which blends music and comedy to expertly take the mickey out of folk music. A tongue-in-cheek show full of ‘punny’ love and protest songs blended with classics you’ll know and love.

A Lady’s Guide to the Art of Being a Wingman, presented by Melbourne cabaret trio The Desperettes, has the girls defying gender roles as they highlight how ridiculous the world of dating has become and the gender stereotypes associated with it.
