The 2017 Port Douglas Carnivale will not only showcase the best and most-experienced talent in the region, but will seek to uncover new talent with the return of the Festival’s Songwriters Challenge.

The challenge, which has been won previously by The Voice 2013 runner-up Danny Ross and Queensland Music Awards 2015 winner Leanne Tennant, also allows entrants to participate in professional sessions, including a workshop with ARIA award-winner Ben Lee.

The heats, spread throughout May at various locations between Cairns and Port Douglas, each feature special guest headliners to inspire and encourage entrants and make every level of the competition exciting for audience members.

The winner of the professional category will receive $1,000, while the winner of the non-professional category will receive $500.

Catch the final heat of the Port Douglas Carnivale Songwriters Challenge in the Wonderland Spiegeltent, Dixie Park, Port Douglas this Sunday 21 May.
