The Townsville Rock Fest will be held for the first time at Murray Sporting Complex this October, headlined by classic Aussie bands Mental as Anything and The Radiators.
The Festival, a locally-run event celebrating the best of old and new-age rock, will feature a number of touring and local acts that will appeal to people of all ages.
Townsville Rock Fest Organiser Tammy Roberts said the event would celebrate local talent, offering a headline spot to a Townsville band.
“As well as welcoming Mental as Anything and The Radiators to Townsville, delivering the awesome tunes we’ve come to know and love them for over the years, we will be shining the spotlight on the bands that are in our own backyard,” Tammy said.
“We’ll be holding a Battle of the Bands in the lead-up to the Rock Fest, with the winner awarded a paid spot on stage alongside the touring bands and supported by two other local acts.
“Mental as Anything and The Radiators have actually been doing quite a bit of touring together lately, so will have a really great groove on by the time they get to Townsville and deliver a rocking show.”
The Rock Fest will offer a full Festival experience, with pre-ordered food packages also set to go on sale soon.
“We’re really excited to have Get ya rocks off picnic packages put together, which will be available for order through our website soon and ready for collection as people arrive at the event,” Tammy said.
“That’s what we really want to do: get your rocks off with great food, great music, and a brilliant atmosphere.”
Rock out with the Townsville Rock Fest at Murray Cricket Grounds from 3pm-late on Saturday, 14 October. Visit the Rock Fest website for more information, with tickets available soon.
