After announcing a new direction for the event last month and including touring headliners in lineup, the Townsville Rock Fest has now rounded out the set list for its 2017 event by throwing talented local bands into the mix.

Not only will Townsville bands Killin’ Floor and Bad Influence take to the stage as support acts, but local four-piece The Nu BLaCK will keep the party going with a coveted headline spot of their own.

Townsville Rock Fest Event Co-Organiser Tammy Roberts said including local talent alongside touring professionals was a great opportunity to showcase the calibre of creatives in our own backyard.

“I think being able to offer a headline spot to a local band is an absolutely marvellous thing for Townsville – local talent is something that’s completely underrated in this town, there’s so much of it here,” Tammy said.

The Nu BLaCK earned their headline spot at a hotly-contested Battle of the Bands last weekend.

“The Nu Black absolutely rocked the roof off the Herbert Hotel last week, we couldn’t be happier to have them as a headliner beside Mental as Anything and The Radiators,” said Tammy.

“All three local acts have built a solid local following doing regular pub gigs around town; and have earned their spot supporting two of Australia’s most iconic acts. Each set will include some kick-ass covers of classic rock hits, with some of the bands originals thrown in for good measure. For us, it’s really important that we deliver punters not only great rock tracks of the 70s, 80s and 90s; but also some up-and-coming tunes they should be on the lookout for.”

“If people come to the Townsville Rock Fest, they should expect to get to lay out on a picnic rug, have something nice to eat, a few bevvies with their friends, listen to some great music, and dance away to some great music throughout the afternoon and into the night!”

Rock out til lock out with the Townsville Rock Fest at Murray Sporting Complex (Hermit Park Tigers AFL Grounds) on Saturday, 14 October. Tickets now available.
