After a massive year, the festivities of summer are starting to kick off: presents are being wrapped, mango stalls are appearing on every street corner, and a recipe for Vegemite icy poles has been released in the lead-up to Australia Day (no really – it’s a thing). So how will North Queenslanders be spending the next couple of months? We’ve been catching up with some of the movers and shakers on the local Arts scene to find out what they’ll be up to.

Christmas with: Angus Milne (King Social)

What are you best known for locally?
King Social’s sex appeal and great sense of morality.

Where and how will you be spending Christmas this year?
I’ll be chilling out here this year, I’m really looking forward to turning the aircon on and eating a full pig. Every year my cousins and I get super drunk and tell each other how amazing our genetics are because we’re all so good looking. Then we unwrap presents.

Do you celebrate Christmas? What does it mean to you?
Everyone celebrates Christmas. What kind of twat doesn’t celebrate Christmas? I’m pretty sure it was when Santa was born.

Which local creative do you believe has kicked the most goals this year?
I’m assuming a creative is a builder so I’d say Martin Locke Homes.

Where do you see yourself one year from now?
Married to Scary Spice with seven kids.

Do you celebrate Australia Day? Do you think changing the date of the Hottest 100 was a good move?
Of course I’ll be celebrating, it’s a public holiday! And a long weekend! I only listen to Triple J and from what I can see, everyone really hates Australia Day so I guess it’s a good move.

What’s your pick to take out the Hottest 100?
Kingswood – Hoops and Everything (haha).

Anything else you’d like to say?
Townsville people are the best looking people in the world! North Queensland is definitely the greatest place in Australia.

Catch King Social at IslandLife’s New Year’s Eve celebrations at Base Magnetic Island on 31 December, with tickets still available via Moshtix.
