A selection of Townsville North Queensland’s diverse array of arts and cultural activities feature in a new commercial to appear across Queensland, select capital cities and Papua New Guinea.
The campaign, encouraging people to discover why Townsville shines, connects with the emotions of residents’ friends and relatives further afield; and incorporates vision of the Australian Festival of Chamber Music, Townsville Fashion Festival and Dancenorth’s dancers among other attractions the region has to offer.
Townsville Enterprise Director of Tourism and Events, Bridget Woods, said the campaign would play a key role in promoting events to people further afield.
“Events are a huge way to attract visitation to Townsville, and attract different numbers from outside the region depending on the event. The Australian Festival of Chamber Music alone generates over 20,000 room nights,” Bridget said.
“Other events like Theatre iNQ productions are important too in attracting different markets, and we’re always conscious of promoting the vast array of events across the region.”
The commercial marks a shift from previous campaigns, and uses local events as well as scenery to promote the region.
“This campaign is really different, and we hope people really embrace it. It’s very busy and fast, showcasing all of the elements of our region. 24 members of Townsville Enterprise are featured in the campaign, and there’s three versions that will be used across platforms. It’s very vibrant showing not only our natural attractions but also events across the entire region – from the outback and the rainforest to the beach and vibrant city life.
“This campaign will be broadcast across Queensland, and are proud to have the campaign also being digitally used in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Darwin and Papua New Guinea.”
The ‘Discover why Townsville shines’ commercials will begin appearing across media platforms from Monday morning. For event listings and to stay up-to-date with the #townsvilleshines campaign, click here.
