Townsville’s own Elvis Presley is returning home to bring a bit of Jailhouse Rock to the city this Friday.
Brody Finlay’s award-winning Elvis tribute act will take to the stage for a hometown performance before a busy second half of the year.
“The act is going really well – I’m heading over to Memphis in August for some shows,” Brody said.
“It’s great to come back and perform in Townsville – I’ve performed in a lot of places around Australia now but coming back to Townsville is always a really good feeling because I’m always given such a warm reception.”
Brody’s performance pays homage to the early years of the King including some of his most iconic songs: Hound Dog, Blue Suede Shoes and Falling In Love With You.
“Audiences should expect to see an authentic recreation of the 1950s-60s era of Elvis Presley. I’ve been performing as Elvis for about four years now.
“There’s quite a few people doing this around the world! I’ve been part of a few Elvis tribute competitions recently and am usually up against 22 or 23 other Australians alone, but have now won two of those competitions in a row – the competitions are great because they keep you practicing too.”
When asked about the upcoming Baz Luhrmann Elvis film being shot in Queensland, Brody hinted that it wasn’t off the cards.
“It’s been mentioned a bit, and as for if anything’s on the cards I don’t want to say too much yet but yes, it’s there.”
